Chronic pain in the neck and back may be the result of an auto accident injury, personal injury or work injury. Back pain is typically treated with a series of chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy and massage therapy. Visiting our massage therapist after your spinal adjustment or physical therapy session can help relax muscles and heal muscles, as well promote healing in the tissues in your body.

Painful Conditions Our Patients Often Face

Fibromyalgia, which is a condition that causes chronic muscle pain, has been successfully treated with chiropractic methods. If you suffer from this disorder, our chiropractor can help reduce and alleviate your pain. Some common treatments for fibromyalgia suffers are gentle chiropractic adjustments, trigger point therapy and laser therapy. All of these procedures have helped reduce fibromyalgia symptoms and pain.

Arthritis is another muscular disorder that attacks your joints which connect your muscles. Different types of arthritis especially osteoarthritis are treated with stretching, massage, gentle manipulation of the joints and ultrasound therapies. We will work along with our massage therapist to relieve your constant pain and strengthen areas that are weakened by your disease.
Personal injuries vary from whiplash to herniated discs. Whiplash is commonly sustained in automobile accidents and causes pain in your neck and back. Stiffness in the neck and back can result in mobility problems. Regular spinal adjustments which work to realign your vertebrae in your neck and back can assist in pain relief and healing.

Whether your chronic pain is from a disorder, disease or injury, our Conway chiropractor will work to manage your pain and help your body heal properly. Our Conway Chiropractic Clinic Will Help You Defeat Whiplash Pain

Posted on 2012-03-01 09:02:52

whiplash relief for Conway patients.jpgOur Conway chiropractic facility, Hurley Chiropractic and Wellness Center, is experienced in treating whiplash injuries. Our chiropractor, Dr. Christine A. Hurley, has been treating patients for personal injuries of this type since 1994, and she along with the rest of the chiropractic staff is determined to use every method of non-invasive care possible to help patients recover and live pain free lives.

What Is Whiplash?

Whiplash is an injury occurring when the neck is snapped sharply forward or in another direction without warning. This is the sort of injury that is often the result of an auto accident, but there may be other causes. This can happen after a roller coaster ride, or after a person-to-person impact in a football game, for example. If the neck is sharply moved unnaturally fast in an unintended direction, whiplash may result.

The pain may start immediately or it may be days before symptoms show, but typically those include back pain, neck pain, headaches, dizziness, and numbness or tingling in the extremities. Back pain may be centered in the upper back but tends to be more common in the lower back.

Our Conway chiropractic clinic uses several different types of therapy to help patients feel better when they suffer from whiplash symptoms. Our chiropractor will always do a complete hands-on exam of the neck and back areas to determine the nature and extent of the injury, and will often follow this with gentle spinal manipulations. Spinal manipulation is intended to free any pinched nerves and to re-align the spinal column as needed. This process will provide pain relief for whiplash patients, especially when coupled with the special rehabilitation exercises that our chiropractors teach. We also offer massage therapy and acupuncture, both of which can be a great help in pain relief and in reducing inflammation problems.

Our patients tell us that they feel lucky to have found the pain relief they need here at Hurley Chiropractic and Wellness Center, since whiplash can be so painful.

Chiropractic Care for Neck Pain

Posted on 2012-01-27 12:29:15

Conway chiropractic care for neck pain.jpgThe feeling of pain or stiffness in your neck can occur as a result of car injury, work injury or other personal injuries. You may feel pain immediately after the injury or accident or the pain may develop slowly over the course of several days, weeks or months. Poor posture can also lead to neck pain. At our Conway chiropractic clinic, we use acupuncture and massage therapy as part of a chiropractic care plan to help patients recover from injury and to eliminate neck pain.

Our team of chiropractors offers a number of treatment options for patients seeking rehabilitation following an injury. Spinal adjustments relieve pain in the neck area and reposition the spine. Acupuncture, performed by Dr. Josie Owens, allows patients to heal by treating the root of the problem, not just the symptoms.

Work and Car Injury Causes of Neck Pain

Whiplash, a common injury following a car crash, is a leading cause of neck pain. When a patient experiences whiplash, her head and neck are forced forwards, away from her body, then back again. The injury causes damage to the vertebrae as well as the muscles and ligaments in the neck.

Neck pain can also occur when a person spends hours behind the wheel, craning her neck forward. The position strains and tires the muscles in the neck, leading to pain and stiffness. Neck strain is also a type of work injury, especially if a person has a job that requires her to lean her neck forward, such as staring at a computer screen.

Day to day life also can lead to personal injuries and pain in the neck area. Sleeping in a funny position or on a pillow that is too low or high can injure the neck muscles. Carrying a heavy purse or backpack can strain the spine and the back.

Arthritis Relief at Our Chiropractic and Wellness Center

Posted on 2011-12-20 08:27:58

Conway chiropractor helps with arthritis.jpgArthritis is an inflammation of the joints that can hit anywhere, but here at Hurley Chiropractic and Wellness Center we know how to soften the blow. Our Conway chiropractors provides a wide range of services for overall health and wellness, with arthritis treatment programs as one of those services. Two of the most common forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Personal Injuries and Aging Top Causes of Arthritis

Osteoarthritis typically comes from a lifetime of wear and tear on the joints. The condition is often associated with aging. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disorder that stems from the autoimmune system. Personal injuries can also exacerbate or lead to arthritis, with debilitating neck and back pain, or arthritis can strike other joints in the body, such as the knee and elbows. Conditions such as tennis elbow can also cause arthritis, due to the repetitive motions of the forearm, wrist and elbow. Regardless of the cause, our techniques can help bring relief.

Our chiropractors can perform adjustments to correct any misalignments in the spine that can be exacerbating the pain and then design a treatment program based on your individual needs. A personalized rehabilitation program can be highly effective for treating arthritis. Such programs generally consist of physical therapy, with a series of exercises and stretches targeted to the problematic area. The exercises are meant to improve your flexibility, restore a full range of motion and strengthen the muscles that support and assist the joints.

Other methods of treating arthritis at our office include acupuncture, which has been effective for reducing pain, as well as massage therapy, rehabilitation, nutritional counseling, and lifestyle advice. Our chiropractors focus on whole body wellness, which can play an integral part in keeping arthritis pain at bay. Weight adds excess stress on your joints, which can reduce your ease of mobility and increase your risk of joint injuries, while regular exercise and healthy eating habits keeps you mobile and flexible. We have programs to assist you in weight loss and achieving greater mobility, flexibility and less pain. Ask us how at 501-513-3322.
